This view of Portland, from Baxter Boulevard over Back Bay towards the city, is one that is very familiar to me. So I guess it made sense that I took an opportunity to see it during a quick trip home.
It was great to have a little time to see my family. Living away from them is challenging, especially when your historical relationship has been so close.
Whoever said you can’t go home again obviously wasn’t from Maine. The constant ability to smell the ocean, the friendly faces, and the comfort of being someplace that begs to feel familiar is overwhelming and hard to deny.
The trip was short, but meaningful. Which, even as I sit in the airport waiting to fly back to Pittsburgh, makes me anticipate the next visit.
