This morning, as we were lamenting over what we felt was a poor showing on our behalf at the breakfast buffet, we were joined by a wandering feline companion. She was very sweet and rubbed on us, saying aloha in her own way.

I’m not sure if it was that she was a little damp from the shower that had just happened or if we were feeling bitter about having been raped for $8 to get a bowl of Rice Krispies, but I decided to feed her. And what did I feed her? About a quarter pound of smoked salmon, pretty much the most expensive thing on the all you can eat buffet. I think I have a friend for life, and I’m feeling better about the price of my breakfast.
