Another travel day with a fortunately uneventful trip from Zurich to Paris. I do have to put it out there: the Lyria train we were on was a long way from it’s best years, and it certainly wasn’t as nice as any of the Trenitalia or Italo equipment we rode on.
After a nasty stop and go taxi ride to our airbnb, and some confusion about the location of the unit, we felt like we had actually arrived.
This airbnb is truly my favorite of this trip. Rome was great. Zurich was really convenient. But this one has one big thing going for it: the view.

Taken with a wide angle lens to get the whole thing in, it’s pretty close. As I sit and type this at the kitchen table, I can only see half of one leg…
Sadly the Wanamakers are staying about a 20 minute walk away, but we did walk to meet them for dinner at a place call “baagaa”. Its a burger joint using only waygu beef. Let’s just say that the burgers were pretty good.
After dinner we took a cruise on the Seine to see some of the sights. I highly recommend the cruise. Its lowkey and gives you a good idea of the scale of the city. I was most shocked by the number of people sittle on the banks and hanging out. Not at cafes or establishments of any kind. Just sitting. Or urinating. Maybe it was a 75/25 split, but there was a lot of both and I’m thinking they were intermingling more than one of the groups would like. But it was a Wednesday evening and there were thousands of people out.

Tomorrow is what the kids have been waiting for all trip: Disneylans Paris. Cue the fireworks and dancing elephants!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m curious. But I’m not an amusement park guy or a huge Diseny fan. All of that aside, watching my little girls light up is totally worth the time and ridiculous amount of money.
Before we said goodbye to our friends for the night we learned that the train we would take to Disney in the morning is out of service after 10pm. Because we are nuts and do open to close – it’s a value proposition to make sure I squeeze every penny out – that means we’d struggle finding a way to travel the 45 minutes back to Paris. So, I hired a car. We now have private transportation taking us and picking us up.
In the end it will just make a memorable trip all the more memorable.
