Spring Break is here, and that means it’s trip time. Sadly we are down a member as her break didn’t align, so this trip will hit a little different.
Not sure if anyone has noticed, but airfare has gotten ridiculously expensive. We were looking at potential destinations and for the first time we let the price of airfare drive our destination, not just our route. Flights from the American Southwest to everywhere were pricey, with one exception: Madrid. None of us have been to Spain before, so we pulled the trigger.
Our plan is pretty simple: a few days in Madrid, a few days in Seville, and the hop home.
There are going to be some unique challenges. The weather is colder than expected. Madrid is typically a warm city, hot in the summers. But it is going to be highs in the 50s. Sounds glorious to me, but a certain wife of mine has packed for the arctic.
Another challenge is going to be food. The Spanish culture is heavily tied to ham, pork, and fish. It is in almost everything. My tundra prepped spouse is also a vegetarian.
These two just mean I need to be on my game around taking good care of her, something I enjoy. I’ve been practicing my Spanish – it’s been a bit but I used to be pretty good – and how to say “she doesn’t eat meat” about a dozen different ways. We’ll be good.
Our flight boards in about thirty minutes. A short 10 hours overnight to London, then a quick layover on our way to Madrid. Can’t wait. It’s going to be a great trip.

Happy trails!
Oh, Have fun! IT sounds like fun. I hope the weather warms up a bit!
