The canyon is an amazing place. The colors, strata in the rock, clarity of the water, all make you feel insignificant and ephemeral.

Of course, we went swimming. All of us. Which doesn’t sound like a bad idea until you factor in the 47 degree water. It felt great.

The raft we were on was a steel frame suspended on four rubber pontoons. We had a great guide who road us a lot about the canyon’s history and characteristics.

The whole trip lasted about 4 hours. I think all of us would go again. Especially Chloe. She found the last 40 minutes particularly good for sleeping.
