Must Be Irish

This has been a great year for me. Lots of things to be thankful for in my life.

I have been truly fortunate to be able to travel to some amazing places, each of them moving in their own way. This picture was taken sitting on bench looking back over the town of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia. The town is nothing special, just a small resort town nearly deserted because of the season. The air is biting cold, even though the thermometer says 53 degrees, it feels much colder.

As I sat on the bench I was engulfed by silence. Even with the town, the occasional boat on the lake, it was possible to be.completely still and hear nothing. It is very serene and encourages the wandering of the mind. At least until the crazy woman with the cat on a leash bothers you. I wish I were kidding.

This year I have seen places of great beauty, each the greatest for its own reasons. But today I had a moment to just reflect on them all.

I really am fortunate. Many have been planned, but some of the best moments, like the fleeting light on the mountain in the picture above are just lucky. Like me.

  1. The gift that you have, Bradford, is the sense to sit down and reflect on the wind, the chill, the silence and the beauty. You could have rushed along to a warm pub and missed the whole scene. And missed the cat lady too, however.Very Zen.
